| Please be advised that at this time there are no fires burning in the Chino Valley area or within our school boundaries. The first fire that is causing the most calls to our District office is off of the 60 Freeway between Diamond Bar and Phillips Ranch Road, west of us. The second fire is off of the 91 Freeway near Weir Canyon Road. There are no evacuation orders and there are no fires burning anywhere near our schools. |
Section Announcements INTERACTIVE READERAttention all students: We are beginning a literature unit in fiction. We will be reading a number of stories out of the Interactive Reader. Please bring your book to class EVERY DAY.
READING LOGAttention students: Everyone should have had their new book approved in the genre of Science Fiction, Fantasy, or Horror. First reading log check is Friday, October 16. Happy reading!
Course Summary Based on the California Language Arts Standards, this course provides in-depth study of both literature and written language methods. While the district literature book provides the basis for the program, students will also be exposed to supplemental texts, both fiction and non-fiction. Students will have an opportunity to engage in activities that will help them become more proficient readers. They will show their understanding and analysis of text through writing, discussion, and speaking. Language conventions and editing techniques will also be included.
